ORTHOVISC
ORTHOVISC is a safe treatment for the condition of osteoarthritis. ORTHOVISC is injected directly into the patient’s knee by a doctor to improve the lubrication of the joint and to provide pain relief.

ORTHOVISC® is a viscous (thick) sterile mixture made from highly purified hyaluronan dissolved in saline. Hyaluronan is a natural chemical found in the joint fluid of your body. The body’s own hyaluronan acts like a lubricant and a shock absorber in the joint. It is needed for the joint to work properly. ORTHOVISC® is ultra-pure hyaluronan, which contains no buffers or preservatives. ORTHOVISC® contains the highest concentration of hyaluronan available per injection.

Directions
Orthovisc is injected directly into the knee, where Orthovisc may help restore the cushioning properties of your joint fluid. Orthovisc can provide up to six months of relief from knee pain. Orthovisc is given as an injection. Your doctor will inject Orthovisc into your knee once a week, for a total of three or four injections. This Orthovisc injection can usually be done right in the doctor’s office.All Injections must be injected by a practitioner who has medical and specialist training. The practitioner must be medically qualified.

Cautions
You should not take Orthovisc if you are allergic to hyaluronate products.
You should not take Orthovisc if you are allergic to products from birds (poultry, feathers, eggs, etc.). If you are injected with Orthovisc and are allergic to bird products, you could develop an allergic reaction to the injections.
You should not have an Orthovisc injection into the knee if you have infections or skin diseases around the injection site.

Ingredients
Hyaluronan is a high molecular weight polysaccharide composed of repeating disaccharide units of sodium glucuronate and N-acetylglucosamine.
Each syringe contains the following in a 2 ml dose sterile-filled into a syringe:
Hyaluronan 30 mg ,
Sodium Chloride 18 mg,
Water for Injection q.s. up to 2.0 ml
ORTHOVISC® does not contain any synthetic additives.
