Allergodil is a highly effective nasal spray. The key to the success of this particular medical product lies in its ingredients. The active ingredient of this drug is a substance known as azelastine hydrochloride. This component is actually an antihistamine (a type of drug) that is able to effectively prevent the unwanted actions of histamine. For those who are not familiar with this term (histamine), this substance is naturally produced in the human organism. Furthermore, it plays an important part in the defense mechanisms of the human body. This is why it can be found in all parts of the human organism, stored in a special type of cell (commonly known as a mast cell). In some cases, the human organism severely responds to the presence of an unwanted, foreign substance. This foreign substance is commonly called allergen. When the body starts a defense mechanism against the allergen the histamine is released from the mast cells.
