Description
Arixtra is an anticoagulant used to prevent the formation of harmful blood clots, especially after hip or knee surgery. Arixtra is alos used in the hospital with warfarin to treat blood clots in the leg or lungs. Arixtra may be treated for toher conditions as determined by your doctor.

Directions
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. This medicine is usually administered as an injection at your doctor's office, hospital, or clinic. This medicine is injected under the skin (subcutaneously or SQ). This medicine is sometimes used at home as an injection. If you are using this medicine at home, a health care professional will provide detailed instructions for its appropriate use. Ask any questions that you may have about this medicine or giving injections. USE A DIFFERENT INJECTION SITE each day to prevent problems at the injection site (e.g., hematomas). STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C). IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, contact your doctor.

Cautions
Side effects that may occur while taking Arixtra include minor bleeding, injection site reactions, nausea, vomiting, headache or diarrhea. In some rare cases, anxiety, somnolence, vertigo and confusion may occur.
Arixtra doess above the recommended regimen may lead to an increased risk of bleeding. There is no known antidote to Arixtra. Overdose associated with bleeding complications should lead to treatment discontinuation and search for the primary cause. Initiation of appropriate therapy such as surgical haemostasis, blood replacements, fresh plasma transfusion, plasmapheresis should be considered.
