Description
Octreotide is used to treat severe diarrhea and other symptoms that occur with certain cancers of the intestine. Octreotide also reduces the amount of growth hormone in the body, and so it is also used to treat acromegaly, a condition associated with overgrowth of the hands, feet, and parts of the face.
Octreotide is also used for emergency treatment of particular causes of bleeding in the esophagus and stomach.
